Located on the edge of downtown Tempe, in the Farmer Arts District this new multifamily apartment building provides 30 new apartments. The building is designed to accommodate a mix of income levels, including some units reserved for people making less than 60% median income.
The ground floor units are all live/work units providing an active street front in this transitioning area. In addition to the live/work units the main lobby, bike parking, leasing office, and fitness room are located on the ground floor facing the public streets.
Sunshades and deep building recesses are used to shade the south and west windows from the harsh sun. The ground floor is shaded with the building's massing overhanging the base.
The project was designed to meet the Arizona Department of Housing Energy Efficiency Standard. PV panels over the carports in the parking lot help offset the building's energy use.
